Canoeists and kayakers hit the water this past weekend for the ‘Round the Islands canoe race sponsored by the Higley Association. This year’s event is dedicated to Clark Trerise, long -time dedicated volunteer, who passed away this past year. Photo is the Zach Shaw family, submitted by Judy Fuhr. First place winners included Craig Moyer in the kayak under 12’ rotomolded men’s division; Laura Hart in the kayak under 12’ rotomolded in the women’s division; Jan Bickford in the kayak under 14’ rotomolded women’s division; and Ron Morrow in the kayak under 14’ rotomolded men’s division. Other winners included Sharon Trerise in the kayak under 12’ composite women’s division; Sue Corbett in the kayak over 14’ rotomolded women’s division; Bob Dowman in the kayak over 14’ rotomolded men’s division; the Lewis family on the canoe mixed men/women division; and Gene Newman and Peter Cain in the canoe unlimited, men. Also winning were Mary and Allen Kelly in the canoe unlimited, mixed;
Zach Shaw family in the adult/child division; Greg Smith in the pack
canoe, double black paddle; Beccky and Daphne Barks in the canoe under
16’ women; Will Siegfried in the solo canoe over 16’ unlimited; Eric
Seifer in the solo anode over 16’ standard; and Henry Sanson in the
